Cool New Sledding Hill to Open in Windsor Thanks to Snow Making
People have been wondering what's going on atop that big hill within the RainDance community in Windsor, Colorado. It's about creating a new place for families to have fun.
It seems like yesterday that the whole area where RainDance is now was just fields. Today, it bustles with homes, trails, a golf resort, Ted's Sweetwater Grill, the River Resort and more. By Christmas 2023, a great sledding hill will be ready for all.
You may have been out to RainDance Resort for an event such as a "tractor pull" or a concert. Where they hold these events, you'll find the highest point in Windsor on top of their activity hill. Next year that hill will be another big gathering spot for family fun.
RainDance has named the hill "Hoedown Hill," which sounds like a ton of fun. According to their site, the hill will have activities throughout the year:
- Hiking, mountain biking, and ziplining during the summer.
- Sledding in winter.
- Year-round concerts.
Here in December 2022, it's all about testing out snow-making equipment to assess the machinery and determine the best technique and formula for making a sledding hill when there isn't any real snow.

Looking at the photo above, it really does look like they're using flamethrowers instead of snow-making machines. It's an optical illusion, however, with the sun bouncing off the stream of frozen water. It's fun to have snow-making machines in Northern Colorado; it makes it feel like a big ski resort.
For safety reasons, RainDance is asking everyone not to try and sled on Hoedown Hill until it is officially ready for use in the winter of 2023.
"The Water Valley Co. has always orbited around family-oriented venues," said Martin Lind, CEO of The Water Valley Co. and developer of RainDance National Resort and Golf. "From the extraordinary venue of the Colorado Eagles to golf to teaching a child to fish, we have designed memorable experiences for everyone. However, Hoedown Hill is going to be the epicenter of family fun for all of NoCo."
