Rise Against Teams Up With DC Comics on New Song Recorded in Fort Collins
Rise Against has released a clip of their first new song in three years, 'Broken Dreams, Inc.,' featured on DC Comics' Dark Nights: Heavy Metal soundtrack. And, what's even more exciting is that the song was recorded in Fort Collins with The Blasting Room Studios.
The band has a longtime relationship with the studio, spanning over the last two decades, but they recorded their last album, 2017's Wolves, in Chicago. Zach Blair, the band's guitarist, said that timing was the reason they recorded elsewhere, but expressed the band's desire the work with Bill Stevenson again.
The Blasting Room's Bill Stevenson Talks About How Rise Against Began Recording in Fort Collins
'Produced by Bill Stevenson, Jason Livermore, Andrew Berlin, and Chris Beeble, 'Broken Dreams, Inc.' exhibits the band’s socially-conscious ethos, with scathing lyrics and raging punk rock,' Loma Vista, the band's label, said in a press release.
'Personally, being involved with this soundtrack is really fantastic. Growing up, my little brother and I would ride our bikes to the newsstand near our house and spend all our money on the latest comic books, and Batman was a favorite. Also, Zach, our guitarist, is probably the biggest comic book geek in our band. He’s talked about how, along with his brother and father, they were all big DC fans - Batman, Robin, Superman, Aquaman, all the comic book series, the TV shows, and feature films. So, yes, we’re all very excited about being part of this,'

Composer Tyler Bates is creating a 'short-form animatic film series derived from Greg Capullo’s original artwork for Dark Nights: Death Metal,' a seven-issue comic book series that is a sequel to DC Comics' Dark Nights: Metal.
'The album’s songs were written and performed by some of rock and metal’s finest, all inspired by the comic series' storyline,' the press release said, and the release date is TBD. However, Rise Against's 'Broken Dreams, Inc.' will be released on Wednesday, September 16.
