Half a Dozen Colorado Waterfalls You Can Go To in the Same Day
You've seen the waterfall on I-70 near Idaho Springs, right, the one with the paddle wheel? Thanks to the website Only in your State, I learned it has a name: Bridal Veil Falls; and it's on their list of six you can easily visit in the same day.
While Hanging Lake is limiting visitation because it's been trashed by thoughtless tourists, it's still available, and I really want to go see it - and stay on the trails, and take my trash with me.
I'm still mad at myself for not having visited Seven Falls during the 18 months I lived in Colorado Springs; but it's on my list for this year, along with my return to Pike's Peak.
But I used to live just a couple miles from this one, as it's on Highway 24 at Manitou Springs: Rainbow Falls. I don't know if it was named after all the colorful graffiti that surrounds it, but it would be fitting.
Also in Colorado Springs is Helen Hunt Falls. It's not named after Actress Helen Hunt, who was a high school crush of mine, but rather Helen Maria Hunt Jackson, a United States poet and writer who became an activist on behalf of improved treatment of Native Americans by the U.S. government, according to Wikipedia.
