As it would turn out, Colorado has birthed some of the country’s most beloved chains.

One place that got its start here is the old favorite, Quiznos, which not only used to be big here in Colorado, but was at one point challenging Subway for sandwich supremacy.

Another one is Qdoba, which not only got its start in Denver, but was actually named the favorite fast food restaurant in all of Colorado. However, it would appear that Cava is starting to give it a run for its money.

However, another chain definitely challenges Qdoba for Colorado’s favorite is Chipotle, which first opened in Denver first.

Now, a new Chipotle is going to be opening in the Mile High City, and it will bring along a new concept for loyal customers.

Denver Chipotle Will Open With a “Chipotlane”

Now, this is a relatively new concept that has not been around too long for Chipotle.

For anyone who likes to go to the store to pick up their order, this new location will have what they called the “Chipotlane”, which is where people can get digital orders from.

However, even though it has many of the same functionalities as a drive-thru, it’s not completely the same.

If this were the case, people would be able to roll up and order from their cars, which would actually be an incredible advancement. Unfortunately, we can only dream of such realities.

Instead, pickup is all you’re allowed to do.

What Is The Point of the “Chipotlane” Pick Up Lane?

While it may feel a little anticlimactic to hear that you won’t be able to order from the Chipotlane, the experiment has had some great benefits.

According to Retail Brew, the process for doing pick up orders this way is far more quick and efficient.

In fact, Chipotle aims to have people in and out of line after just 30 seconds.

As Retail Brew notes, compared to the 221.99 seconds at Taco Bell, which is the fastest in fast food, it's night and day.

Of course, you have to place the order before getting to the window, but it will be more convenient for customers and make the store have less foot-traffic as well.

This new location will be opening on July 30th at 5560 North Tower Road. Another location in Boulder will be opening at 1262 College Ave. on July 29th. This location will have a walk-up window for pickups.
