Today's survey doesn't actually have anything to do with a real place like it may suggest. Did you ever see the movie "Happy Gilmore?" Happy Gilmore's coach, Chubbs, constantly reminds Happy to go to his "happy place" to help his golf game. "Think of a place that's really perfect. Your own happy place. Go there, and all your anger will just disappear." This is the type of place I am speaking of today. Where is your happy place?

It is national Happiness Happens Month, a celebration to encourage people to recognize their happy moments, in addition to their unhappy ones. If you want to be happier and healthier, keep a positive attitude. A study from the Mayo Clinic found optimists reported having better physical and emotional health. Doctor Toshihiko (toh-she-HEE'koh) Maruta (mar-OO'tuh) says the research is a follow-up to a study they did a couple years ago. He says the optimist also tends to live longer and better lives.

I can help! Here is a sure fire technique for maintaining a positive attitude and a sure fire way to a happier day! The secret is thinking pleasant thoughts. The power of thinking of positive images really works, I will prove it. Close your eyes and picture in your mind the following images. Think about them one at a time before going on to the next one...

  • Falling in love.
  • Taking a drive on a pretty road.
  • Hearing your favorite song on the radio.
  • Lying in bed listening to the rain outside.
  • Finding the sweater you want is on sale for half price.
  • Running through sprinklers.
  • Having someone tell you that you're beautiful.

Now honestly, don't you feel better? It works!
