Water bottle: Check. Sunscreen: Check. Electric guitar: Check. The band of three brothers, and two of AJR's touring members, took a hike outside of Red Rocks Amphitheatre last fall to play a few of their songs — out in the open.

The performance was part of the new Trail Mix sessions, a collection of videos (similar to Young The Giant's In The Open) just released by Red Rocks while live shows are on hold.

'Inspired by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts and other session content creators, Trail Mix and our additional Red Rocks original content is a love letter to our fans and the venue,' said Josh Lenz, marketing and communications manager in a press release from Red Rocks.

The band said that they are used to being in a small apartment in New York City, but last October they got a change of scenery, and a breath of fresh mountain air, when they played literally on a trail near Colorado's iconic outdoor venue.

'While we might be on a bit of a hiatus this year recording new sessions, we promise there will be plenty more to come in 2021,' Lenz said.
