How Far Would You Travel To See Your Favorite Artist In Concert?

If you ask me, I'd travel anywhere to see my favorite artists in concert... as long as my schedule and my bank account allow it, I don't care if the show's 20 minutes away or across the country - I'm going.

If you know me well or, honestly, if you know me at all, you more than likely know that one of my favorite artists - of any genre - is Luke Combs.

As a self-proclaimed Luke Combs superfan, I obviously knew that Luke was planning to come back to Colorado this month to put on a show that, like many others, was originally scheduled for a different date but had been canceled and postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Truthfully, I knew about the show for months, but I also knew the show was scheduled for a Wednesday night (aka a work night) and the venue was located two hours south in Colorado Springs.

The thought of making the trek down to the Springs for a Luke Combs concert didn't seem crazy at all to me - in fact, it was extremely tempting especially since I had never been to Colorado Springs before.

But then I started thinking about how great I felt the last time I went out on a weeknight and had to come into work the following morning -

Yeah, that didn't go over so well.

So, like the responsible 23-year-old working girl that I am, I never bought the tickets.

The choice to be a responsible young adult rather than buying tickets to see the love of my life in concert was not an easy choice to make, but it did wind up working out in my favor - because I wound up going to the show.

Sometime in July, my mom called to let me know that she would have some free time to fly out to Colorado to spend a few days with me in October. Simply being in my mom's company is exciting enough, but little did I know that she'd be coming with a gift that was just as, if not, more exciting than she is (sorry, mom).

My mom wound up flying in last week from New Jersey; I picked her up from the airport, and she hadn't even been in the car for 10 minutes before spilling the surprise that she scored us a pair of tickets to go see Luke Combs down in the Springs.

Excited isn't even the word to describe how I felt after hearing that we'd be going to the show - I was ecstatic.

I was even more ecstatic when I realized I've yet to use all my PTO days... I absolutely love my job, but I knew in order for me to go to this show and actually enjoy it, I was going to have to take the following morning off from work, so I did - and it was so worth it.
