ICYMI: Nathaniel Rateliff Performs From Colorado on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Nathaniel Rateliff was a musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, performing the title track from his record 'And It's Still Alright' from home in Colorado.
Rateliff's song comes solely from the artist, without the Night Sweats — so don't expect this one to sound quite like 'S.O.B.' or 'I Need Never Get Old.'
It's actually kind of a sad one. 'And It's Still Alright' is about the loss of Rateliff's friend and producer, Richard Swift.
'I had a bunch of songs that I was writing with Richard in mind,' Rateliff said in an interview with The Bluegrass Situation. '...There was a moment in the recording process when I was like, 'Oh f**k, I can’t believe I’m writing about this.' It’s heartbreaking at first but there is an element of healing to it. Sometimes to relinquish things you just have to say them out loud.'
Rolling Stone said Rateliff 'delivered a devastating performance' on the late night show on Monday, November 9. You can see the video below.
