The estimated monthly cost of this 17-bedroom/19-bathroom estate in Aspen runs about $193,000/month. Take a look at what success can look like.

Edgar Stern Jr. passed away in 2008 after a life of being a man talented in developing hotels/shopping areas/ski resorts. He also started a TV station and contributed to the communities in which he lived.

Stern and his father started WDSU-TV in New Orleans in 1948. It was the first commercial TV station in the Gulf Coast region and continues to broadcast to this day.

Also in New Orleans, Stern Jr. developed the first shopping mall with air conditioning in 1966, the Oakwood Mall (now Oakwood Center), and two major hotels, the Royal Sonesta Hotel and the Royal Orleans Hotel.

In 1968, Stern took the fortunes from his successful endeavors in Louisiana and moved to the ski slopes of Aspen. An avid fan of skiing, Stern is credited with creating the ski-resort model we know today. He was the man behind the development of Park City in Utah (home of the Sundance Film Festival) and Deer Valley Resort.

In Aspen, Stern developed the Starwood gated-community, where the ultra-rich have often lived, including John Denver.

Stern's own property in Starwood is now on the market and it's very nice.

It includes two 3-bedroom caretakers' homes. It's THAT big.
