We all know the brewery and food trucks duo. It's tried, it's true, but it really feels like there's time for something a little ... more. Especially when it's the dead of winter, you want a nice ale and some food to go with it but don't want to stand outside waiting in line.

Beyond just a new and exciting addition to the Peculier Ales brewery in Windsor, its new food partner brings beer garden bistro and carnival fair memories to give you Comn Fare.

The Townsquare Media team took the afternoon to check out the new food spot that shares a massive space with Peculier Ales, and let us just say, we were not disappointed. And you won't be either.

Bradley Nelson, general manager of Comn Fare, talked to us about Comn Fare's journey into existence, as well as his own appreciation and path in the food industry.

The vision behind Comn Fare was taking a "modern and playful" approach to the Comn Fare space. The geometric shapes, neon signs, coffee bar, and even prints of Peculier Ales' best beer labels bring that entire vision to fruition.

The vision translated clearly into the experience. Dave Jensen with afternoons on Townsquare Media's Retro 102.5 summed up the experience perfectly, saying, "Fun food, made delicious. Unpretentious. Great portion sizes." What else is there to say!

For Nelson, the process of him heading the menu development was simple and touching: take what you appreciated and enjoyed as a child — i.e., the fair aspect to items on the menu — and bring that joy into adulthood. The elote corndogs prove that's possible enough on their own!

If you doubt us about the elote corndogs, Matt Sparx with afternoons on New Country 99.1 gave high and convincing praises for them, saying, "The food at Comn Fare was great! If you are a fan of corndogs, you need to check out Comn Fare."

"A vegetarian delight," Townsquare Media's Krista Reed said. "It’s been so long since I’ve been to a restaurant with a group of people and had options for my meal. There was so much to choose from for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. The perfect combination of flavors, sophistication, and fun food."

So hey, meat lover, vegetarian or otherwise, there's no way to be disappointed when chowing down at Comn Fare.

Food, hospitality, and people are essential to Nelson especially, but it's evident it's vital to the entire operation.

Comn Fare is open Sunday-Wednesday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m., and Thursday-Saturday from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. right above the Windsor Mill Tavern in the same space as Peculier Ales.
