In his keynote speech at this year's SXSW Fest, Mark Duplass explained how to become a filmmaker.

At this year's South-By-Southwest Festival (SXSW) Mark Duplass, the actor/writer/filmmaker known for his work and character on the hit FXX show The League and the HBO series Togetherness, gave a how-to speech about making your own movies.

He and his brother Jay (Duplass Brothers Productions) have produced many films such as Safety Not Guaranteed and The Skeleton Twins.

What is his advice to new, would-be filmmakers?

Make 5-minute short films using your cell phones or old video cameras. He recommended making these super-short, low-tech, micro-budget, one-scene movies over the weekend with "your smartest group of friends".

That's what worked for him? How cool is that?

Sounds fun. And easy. Got any ideas?
