Normally when there is a fire you pick up the phone, call 911, and firemen will conveniently show up to wherever the fire happens to be. Not the case in Loveland yesterday (October 10th). Instead a trash truck driver delivered his burning truck to the fire station.

The Waste Management truck was picking up trash on East Fifth Street when the driver realized he had a fire in his load. He drove to Fire Station 1 nearby, where firefighters found a fire in the middle of the load of trash. Firefighters on a ladder hosed down the load, and the driver went on his way. A second Waste Management truck then showed up, and city workers had the pile of trash in the middle of Jefferson Avenue cleaned up in about half an hour.

Fires in trash trucks aren't that uncommon, and Loveland Fire and Rescue Lt. Robert Carmosino said drivers have delivered fires to Loveland fire stations in the past. "It's happened before," he said.
