Smiles and Goodbyes: Tik Toker Shows Final Day of Fort Collins Macy’s Store
It was the end of another era as Macy's employees in Fort Collins, put the final wraps on their store. One of the employees filmed a portion of that day for her Tik Tok.
It has to be pretty overwhelming to witness the final hours of a longtime business coming to an end. Watching the video, you get a sense that they're all going to be OK, though there was at least a little sadness.
The Fort Collins, Colorado, Macy's dated back to 1975, when the original Foothills Fashion Mall opened with a Foley's inside. That's nearly 50 years of shoes, dresses, school clothes, perfumes, jewelry and much more. Of course, 50 years ago, the internet wasn't even a gleam in anyone's eyes, where today, it's crushing brick-and-mortar retailers.
It was announced in December of 2022, that Macy's had made the decision to close many stores across the country that were underperforming, including the one at Foothills.
Tik Tok user and Macy's Fort Collins staffer, Kaylee Dallas took to the app on or near March 19, 2023, to show how things were looking on the final day of the store. Obviously, there's a whole lot of "empty" as the massive store was getting set to close forever. Have you ever worked at a place on its last day? It must be very heartbreaking.
In Kaylee's :47 video, she takes us around the store to say "goodbye" not only the store, but the coworkers she enjoyed. Somebody even made a "Macy's" cake for the occasion.
Kaylee gets many of her coworkers on camera to wave, smile and wish everyone luck.

In Kaylee's video you see a lot of how the store has emptied out, but you don't see a lot of "sadness;" it could be that all that had passed by the time that final day had come around. They'd made their peace, and had moved on, though they were still there, for the moment.
In the end you see a shot of 20 people. Were these everyone who was working that day? Were they all of the employees that were left? Hard to ay.
