Echoes of alternative rock will cascade through Fort Collins once again, with post-punk stars the Silversun Pickups coming to the Aggie Theater. The April 18 show in the heart of Old Town will be presented by 94.3 The X, Northern Colorado’s local alternative radio station.

The Silversun Pickups are touring in support of their new album, “Physical Thrills.” Originally composed in the early part of the pandemic, the record contains new sounds for the Los Angeles quartet.

Vocalist and bassist Nikki Monninger is excited to take the band’s new record on the road this spring.

“We’ve been together for twenty-two years; it’s really interesting that we still love doing this,” Monninger said in a statement. “I feel like we still have many more things to say, and we’re so happy with how this album turned out.”

The Silversun Pickups’ relationship with Fort Collins has been intertwined with the pandemic these past few years. In 2020, the group was slated to headline day one of Townsquare Media’s annual Taste of Fort Collins. Obviously, those plans fell through.

The performance at the Aggie is an opportunity for the band to feel the love from their fans in the Fort. With the venue’s gritty authenticity and local charm, fans are guaranteed the best seat in the house, whether it’s with beers on the balcony or dancing in the pit.

Tickets for the upcoming show on April 18 are available now.
