A Great New Mexican Restaurant Has Opened in Loveland and It’s ‘Muy Bueno’
A new place for Mexican dishes has opened in a location that has had three other restaurants failing to succeed. Will this new endeavor break that trend?
The great thing that's in this new restaurant's favor, is that the family has operated restaurants in the Northern Colorado area for many, many, years. Old, authentic recipes, a young operator, a great bar with great cocktails. Here's hoping they'll be around a long time.
In the spot most recently held by Giordano's Pizza in Loveland, Colorado, is now a Mexican restaurant, Ruben's Grill & Cantina. They officially open in early April of 2023. Before Giordano's there was Lola's, before Lola's, and prior to that there was a Perkins at this locale.
You may think tat "Ruben's" is kind of a strange name for a Mexican restaurant, but when you find out that it's the name of the proprietor's grandfather, you understand. Then, when you find out show the proprietor's parents are, you are already "sold" on the restaurant.
Ruben's is a great addition to the restaurants in this area of east Loveland and west Windsor, with Nordy's, Fuzzy's, Hooters, Palamino, and The Boot. It has a great atmosphere, and the staff was super friendly when I visited with friends. It was a Friday night, so for everything to go so well on busy night, while still young, was great.
That margarita that I'm holding is their medium-sized "Monster" margarita. I ordered the "Ruben" one, in honor of the grandfather. It was very good. My friends and I could have gotten a "Tower," but talked ourselves out of it.
We were seated in the back-end of the restaurant; it is a pretty big space. Below, is the front end of the restaurant.
The bar has a great "feel" about it as well, as it should, since "Cantina" is in Ruben's name.
We really enjoyed our meals. It was hard to choose which dish to get, they all sounded so good. I had the Chicken en Creme. Very, very tasty, and well-portioned.
THE HERITAGE OF RUBEN'S
The parents of the proprietor of Ruben's own and have been running the three El Pueblito restaurants, that have been going strong for decades. You have to believe that with that kind of lineage, things will go well for Ruben's.
