Pearl Jam Will Be Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame [Video]

Brace yourself:  This story mentions some times Pearl Jam has opened for Neil Young.  If only!!  While I have not yet been quick enough nor rich enough to see Pearl Jam live, I was able to squeeze in an amazing show with Young at Red Rocks a couple years back.

Probably no surprise that Pearl Jam will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Neil Young.  After all, there is a lot of history there: Pearl Jam and Young performed a near-legendary version of Young's "Rockin' In The Free World" -- a song that still shows up in Pearl Jam's set list -- at the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards, after which Pearl Jam opened a number of shows on Young's tour the following year. After that, they were his backing band on the album Mirror Ball and the European tour he did that year.  Hard to imagine Pearl Jam opening for anyone, right?
The Hall of Fame's vice president of marketing, Todd Mesek, said, ""There's a creative committee that looks for these types of connections to find people who are the right fit . . . Pearl Jam continues to play Young's 'Rockin' In The Free World' as part of their sets today, so the relationship -- personally, professionally and musically -- is deep."

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony happens on Friday, April 7th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. An edited version of the ceremony will air later in the spring on HBO.
