When most of of think of Yellowstone, we either think of the hit TV show, or the bison and geysers, like above. There are those that have other thoughts about Montana's awesome tourist attraction; about the supervolcano.

I think that there are many people in the Colorado area that are at least a little worried that some mass-extinction eruption will happen at Yellowstone, it's just a matter of "when?" How many people, however, believe that NASA is taking steps to prevent a major eruption?

There's no question that the thought of a supervolano eruption is scary enough that people can be drawn into a theory about how "they" are trying to prevent something bad from happening. Throw in the minds of NASA, and you definitely can get people's attention. It certainly got my attention, when a visiting friend brought it up.

WHAT'S THE STORY?

The premise is that the NASA has a $3.5 billion project to drill into the supervolcano in an attempt to cool it down.

THAT'S NOT HAPPENING?

No. According to Snopes.com it's really more of a exaggerated theory, where over thousands of years, you could cool down the supervolcano, while also producing hydro-thermal energy. There is no actual plan is place.
