Make Sure to Fill Out Your 2020 Census
If you haven't already, make sure you fill out your 2020 Census.
It may seem like a pain, but the process of filling it out is actually fairly easy — it can be done online and only takes a few moments to complete.
And, the impact you'll make from just those few moments is pretty incredible.
The census allows your voice to be heard, and helps federal, state, and local representatives know how to best allocate funding for years to come.
"It's something that you can spend a few minutes [on] right now and impact your community for the next 10 years," said Dennis Johnson, Deputy Regional Director for the U.S. Census Bureau, in our "Tuned In to NoCo" interview. "You respond for your community. You respond for your neighbors. You respond so your community can get its fair share. And if you choose not to, that means your community...is going to lose funding for the next 10 years. And that can be avoided by one simple act."
There are multiple ways you can fill out the census: online here, by returning your paper questionnaire in the mail, or by making a toll-free phone call to (844)-330-2020.
If you don't choose the above options, a neighbor registered with the U.S. Census Bureau will knock on your door (while following all COVID-19 precautions) to help you fill it out.
And, there's no need to worry about your information being misused. By law, the information you provide can only be used for the purposes of the census.
"We want others to be excited that we're taking this opportunity to participate in one of the most fundamental activities that we do as a nation," said Johnson. "We've been doing it since 1790. It's kind of exciting when you think about it...we're a part of history."
