Loveland PD Looking For Suspect, Witnesses In Hit & Run Incident

The Loveland Police Department is looking to find the driver of a car that was involved in a cyclist hit and run over the weekend, as well as witnesses who might've been on scene at the time of the incident.

According to a tweet from Tuesday (June 29) via the Loveland Police Department Twitter page, the hit and run incident occurred around 2 p.m. last Sunday (June 27) on southbound Garfield Avenue and 43rd Street in Loveland.

The driver involved in the incident reportedly did not stop after hitting the cyclist, who was only identified as a 50-year-old man who had been riding his bike with his son, a young man in his 20s.

Tom Hacker, a spokesman with the Loveland Police Department, said the man and his son were riding southbound on Garfield Avenue when the man suddenly found himself on the sidewalk after being knocked off his bike; he was unaware of the incident that has just occurred.

Hacker went on to say the man was not wearing a helmet but only sustained minor injuries, according to the Loveland Reporter-Herald. 

Following the incident, two other drivers had stopped and said the man had been hit by a car that did not stop after the collision. One of the drivers reportedly took down the license plate number of the vehicle in question. However, the driver apparently didn't tell the man what it was.

Hacker also said the man’s son did not see the incident take place, as he was not paying attention to his father at the time of the collision.

Rather than calling the police, the man and his son went home - as per the Loveland Reporter-Herald. After the man told wife what had happened, she reached out to police to notify them of the incident.
