Large Group of Colorado Teachers Consider Quitting After Pandemic
While I have never been a teacher of school kids, I can only imagine how difficult of a job that must be. Especially when dealing with so many things out of your control like the pandemic we have all been dealing with. Because of many difficult factors, the Greeley Tribune is reporting that 40% of all Colorado teachers are considering quitting after the pandemic school year is over.
Obviously, there are many factors that go into a decision like this, not just the pandemic we have all struggled through. But also safety concerns as they continue to return to the classroom, huge workloads during the COVID-19 pandemic, and low pay are just some of the reasons.

The survey of Colorado teachers was conducted by the Colorado Education Association, and beyond just the 40% of teachers, there are 33% of professionals in supporting roles that are questioning their career moving forward as well. One stat that stood out during this survey is that the highest number of teachers contemplating the change was of teachers 60 to 69 years of age and the number decreased as the age range went to lower numbers.
When looking at things geographically, in the Denver area 38% of teachers have reportedly said they are thinking about making a change. While 42% of teachers in other parts of the state are thinking about the same thing.
Again I have no idea how difficult it would be to teach kids, especially in the difficult situation we have been dealing with. But let's hope the educators in Colorado can get the support they need to continue doing a great job teaching our kids.
