It was 5 years ago on this day that we finally heard new music from Bob Seger after waiting 11 years for that! "Face the Promise" was originally planned to be released in 2004 and then delayed to 2005. It was finally officially released on September 12, 2006. According to many web pages it took Bob Seger 6 years of work to finish the project. If you are tired of waiting for new Seger music, you just may be in luck! During his tour over the last year Seger has been sampling new songs, and even released the first single of the forthcoming album,  "Downtown Train", a Tom Waits cover. "Face the Promise" did go platinum in the U.S., but never really had a huge effect on mainstream music. Only two singles were released off of the album, and only "Wait For Me," the albums first single, charted. The 2011 tour is on a break right now, resuming in November with mostly east coast stops, and no official word has been released about the release of the new album.

First, lets take a trip back 2006 with the biggest hit off of "Face the Promise," "Wait For Me."

And now, here is the new single "Downtown Train."
