Greeley, Colorado has set the bar rather high for mixed martial arts fighters all because of one guy... Shane Carwin, who was the UFC heavyweight title holder for a short time. But with Carwin now retired Greeley's new MMA star comes in the form of Ryan Martinez. Martinez gets his next chance to show off tonight (March 7th) on national TV.

Martinez who was a two-time All American while wrestling at Greeley West High School then went on to get involved with drugs and eventually landed in prison. While locked up he learned the art of MMA, cleaned his life up, and now gets to showcase his skills on a national level.

His professional record stands at 10-3-0, but his last fight ended in disappointment with a TKO loss in July. Martinez looks to rebound tonight as he takes on Lavar Johnson 17-8-0.

The Martinez fight is the co-main event of Bellator 111 tonight on Spike. The main card fights start at 7 MST, with two fights before the Greeley native hits the cage.
