An explosion within an apartment in Downtown Greeley, early March 5, 2021, set off a two-alarm fire, sent three to local hospitals, and evacuated the building.

According to the Greeley Tribune, as of Friday afternoon, March 5, 2021, there was still little information on what exactly happened in the apartment located along the 1300 block of 9th Street in Downtown.

The explosion must have happened shortly after 2 a.m. as that's when the fire department was called to the scene.

According to the Greeley Tribune, the fire was put out quickly, though they did call in a second alarm for the fire, which brought the total number of firefighters on the scene to 26 along with four ambulances.


I can't say that it's ever happened to me, but it must be very frustrating to have to evacuate your home, in the middle of the night, due to a neighbor's issues. This is a prime example of why renters should carry renter's insurance. A lot of landlords are now making that a requirement before renting out apartments.
