Can't say we're entirely surprised but Fort Collins has been named one of America's Top 10 Western College Towns.

Sunset.com has compiled their list using several factors including, of course, education. But they went further than that and incorporated lifestyle elements beyond campus like the local food scene, variety of outdoor offerings and solid real estate value. With more than 33,000 students enrolled each year, Colorado State University and it's students have a huge positive impact on the local economy.

Also mentioning Colorado as the unofficial beer capital of the west, Fort Collins plays a big role in that with more than 20 purveyors of hops within driving distance. When you factor in a beautiful main street area with a lower cost of living than Boulder, you've got a big win for college-age people.

Tempe, Arizona kicks off the list at number 10 and Albuquerque, New Mexico tops the list at number one. For everything in between, you can link up via Sunset.com.
