Watch: Fort Collins Gets a Cool Mention in the 2007 ‘Reno 911!’ Movie
Everybody just seems to love the actor, Paul Rudd. Does he have an affinity for Fort Collins? In the 2007 comedy, "Reno 911!: Miami," it sure does seem like it.
He's part of the Marvel Universe as "Ant Man," he's been in the "Anchorman" movies, he's in the new "Ghostbusters" reboot, and he was in this wacky comedy. He plays a drug lord in Miami, but he's not from Miami. He's from Fort Collins.
Paul Rudd is one of the most likeable people in Hollywood. It was in July of 2022, that he helped out a Colorado kid in Westminster who was being bullied by Facetiming the 12-year-old and sending a personal note. He's charming, good looking, and fun to watch on screen. This guy has a lot going for him. It's fun to see him talk about Fort Collins in this movie from 2007.
Comedy Central initially aired "Reno 911!" from 2003 to 2009. Lieutenant Dangle and his team are hilarious as cops that are "not that great," in Reno. There are many supporting characters that help to make up the show, including Paul Rudd as 'Guy Jericho,' the inappropriate Lamaze class instructor.

Paul was also a character in "Reno 911! Miami" in 2007, when Dangle and the gang ended up having to fil in for the Miami-Dade police department. Of course things don't go great for the squad; but part of the story involves "Ethan" the drug lord, looking to set up an empire in Miami. Ethan is not that competent and he's not really from Miami.
As the pressure mounts Ethan cracks and reveals that he's not from Cuba, but from a place "outside of Denver," at 1:24 into this great clip.
Of course, it's silly to imply that Colorado is more into mushrooms and acid, but how fun is it that Paul Rudd drops "Fort Collins' into the scene. It's reported that the script was pretty loose, headed by Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garrant (who also directed) and Kerri Kenney; I can see where Rudd just ad-libbed the Fort Collins part.
