Dreams Do Come True, Chase Them

Sometimes it is easy to take for granted what we have. We all do it, and some have more to be thankful for than others. The important thing is that at times you do sit back and reflect, remember the things you are thankful for. I have now had my dream job for 5 years, and it's been like a whirlwind. So many good things have happened to me, and the only reason they did was because I was assertive and chased my dreams. It's not too late, if you have a dream chase it.

I was never shy, but I was probably the least assertive person I had ever met at one time. There was the continual thought running through my head, "that will never happen to me." It's true, if you think that it won't. I went through it with many things in life. From thinking I couldn't go on stage and do a show in school, to thinking I couldn't win that big bowling tournament. Guess what? I missed out. I never got on stage, and I never won the big tournaments.

There is a movie, and more importantly a belief system called The Secret. It is the belief in the law of attraction. The belief that "like attracts like" and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about positive or negative results. Until I was introduced to this belief system I continued to doubt myself and my abilities that I knew I had deep down inside me somewhere.

Once I started thinking positively, positive things started happening to me. The last five years I have made a career in radio that I love, I have got to work around and with the people who made me want to be in the business, and I even get to be a part of their big once-a-year comedy show tonight. i have gotten to hang out with stars, and and even put on a large fundraiser for something that was near and dear to my heart.

The one thing you have to remember is in order for your dreams to come true, you have to chase them. Nothing is handed to you. If you want it, work for it. Don't be John from "Piano Man."

Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me."
As the smile ran away from his face
"Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place"

Always be thankful for what you have, and if you have a desire to get on stage, do it. If you want to win, do it. There is nothing you can't do.
