One of the habits in my daily routine is when I get to the radio station every morning and turn on my computer, the first two things I do are check the weather and then check what everyone is up to on Facebook. Today, it seemed like all of my friends were just getting to bed a couple hours ago after getting home from the midnight showing of the new movie The Avengers. Granted, I am in bed by 9 every night so I can get up well before the crack of dawn, I don't think I would have partaken in The Avengers madness last night anyways. Have/do you ever go to the midnight premiere of new movies?

After the success of the film Iron Man in May 2008, Marvel announced that The Avengers would be released in July 2011. After Marvel signed Scarlett Johansson in March 2009, the film was pushed back for a 2012 release. The American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is the sixth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Along with Johansson, The Avengers also stars Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth,  Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, and Samuel L. Jackson. In The Avengers, Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, and Captain America to form a team. The group must stop Thor's brother Loki from enslaving the human race.

Comics and superheroes have never really been my thing, so even if I didn't have such an early bedtime I probably wouldn't have made the trip to the theater last night. Actually, I have never been to a midnight showing of a movie. The next night when the lines are shorter and the movie still looks the same is usually alright by me. Although, I am sure when the theater is packed with people who are as excited as you are to see the movie the atmosphere is electric. Maybe I will give it a try someday.
