Dirty Dancing was one of the biggest movies ever, but the soundtrack is the 3rd best selling ever! So my first thought when I heard the movie was being remade was, what are they going to do with the music? Will they use the same songs and have new artists cover them? Will they come up with an all new soundtrack? In my opinion, no matter what they do they will never top the original.

The soundtrack spent 18 weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 album sales charts and went eleven times platinum. The only soundtracks to ever sell more are Purple Rain and The Bodyguard. The album also produced 3 original songs that all made at least the top five on the Billboard Hot 100, Patrick Swayze's "She's Like the Wind" made it to #3, Eric Carmen's "Hungry Eye's" reached #4, and the biggest hit from the movie was Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes' "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" which topped the chart in November of 1987.
