A Colorado State University entomologist who is known nationally for his work has been arrested for suspicion of possession of child pornography according to the Coloradoan. The arrest of Boris Kondratieff, 66, came on January 29 after Colorado State University officials were notified that Kondratieff may have sexually explicit photos of minors on his computer.

According to court records, Kondratieff is accused of committing the offenses in October of 2020. The Colorado State University professor is facing four charges in total. Two counts of possession of 20 or more sexually explicit videos of children and two counts of possession of sexually explicit material of children.

Colorado State University placed Kondratieff on leave while CSU police started to investigate. Boris Kondratieff is currently barred from interacting with Colorado State University students, engaging in outreach activities through the university, or entering university property.

Boris Kondratieff is currently out of custody on a $40,000 bond. Kondratieff is scheduled to appear in court  again on Monday afternoon.

Kondratieff has taught at CSU for more than 30 years. He was previously employed by Virginia Tech.
