Colorado State men's basketball has an incredible non-conference schedule this season, and they've officially announced it's going to be kicked off with a season opener against Oral Roberts on Nov. 9.

Oral Roberts had a Cinderella story run in the NCAA tournament last year, being only the second 15 seed to ever make it to the Sweet 16. According to an article with the NCAA, Oral Roberts hadn't even won an NCAA Tournament game since 1974.

The Rams also had a bit of a postseason run themselves, making it to the Final Four in 2021. With Colorado State returning its entire starting lineup and almost the exact same team as last season, and Oral Roberts only losing three redshirt seniors themselves, it will be a productive match-up for both programs.

According to the release from CSU, Oral Roberts will again be led by junior guard Max Abmas who, by the way, led the nation in scoring and averaged 27.7 points per game in the NCAA tournament, playing every minute on the clock in the three games ORU played in the tournament.

CSU finished last season with a 20-8 overall record in a shortened COVID season, their second consecutive 20 plus win season in the three seasons they've been under Niko Medved.

Medved has carried the program through progressive success in every season at Colorado State, and he is coming fresh off a Mountain West Coach of the Year nod from last season.

As a reminder, CSU athletics protocols call for masks indoors at Moby Arena, but no capacity limits have been set. All of CSU Athletics has been itching to have fans back in the stands. Tickets are currently on sale, as well as mini-plans for basketball, volleyball, and football.
