Casino Says Gamblers Should Pay THEM Back- What? [POLL]

If you don't know how to gamble, that doesn't stop the casinos from letting you lose money right?  What if the CASINO didn't know how to gamble- would that mean that you should give back money that you won?  In Atlantic City, they seem to think so.

I enjoy gambling- even though I know the odds are pretty much against me winning anything big.  A story out of Atlantic City caught my eye today.  At The Golden Nugget, a card manufacture's mistake gave a few gamblers the upper hand on the casino.

It seems 14 players were gathered at a 'mini-baccarat' table when a new deck was needed. Turns out, that particular deck did NOT come shuffled (as all decks should from the card manufacturer Gemaco). The players began to see the pattern as the cards were being played, so they started winning.  Then, they started INCREASING their bets- bets that started at $10 had gone to $5,000!

Well, the casino FINALLY figured out why all these people were winning (after 41 consecutive wins) shut it all down, and are now suing those gamblers who won. The Golden Nugget is saying that the gamblers were cheating, and want $550,000 in cash back AND the $1 million in chips that the gamblers still have (because the casino stopped cashing chips from that table after the card problem was discovered).

Of course, at lease three of the gamblers are counter-suing.

The gamblers lawyer made the statement:

The Golden Nugget appealed to gamblers to come in and play games licensed and sanctioned by the state of New Jersey," he said. "My clients did exactly that, and then were denied their winnings. There is absolutely no law in New Jersey that would permit the Golden Nugget to declare the game illegal because it failed to provide shuffled cards."

So, on one hand, you COULD say the players were cheating: they must have known that something was wrong with the deck, yet continued to play.  On the other hand, how many times have casinos let someone play who's had too much to drink, or is just oblivious to how the game works- and take that person's money?
