It has been more 70 days since the Cameron Peak fire ignited on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests near Cameron Pass and Chambers Lake on August 13.

As per an update from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office released Thursday morning (Oct. 22), the Cameron Peak Fire remains active in the Redstone Canyon, Masonville, Dunraven, Storm Mountain, and other areas.

Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith said that, while damage assessments are still being finalized, it is believed that about 190 structures have been damaged or destroyed by the fire so far. He went on to say that among those structures, around one third of them are residences.

The latest report from the US Forest Service states that the fire is currently covering 206,977 acres with 55% containment.
