Butch’s Monday Afternoon Chode – Carmelo Anthony

Monday's suck! There is no denying it, and no way around it. Still we have to get up, get dressed, deal with traffic, the boss, and annoying co-workers, and do it all with a smile. By Monday afternoon, you are ready to vent a bit, at least I am! That is why I have created the Monday Afternoon Chode. Basically a way for you to vent about somebody who pisses you off. The first for me, Carmelo Anthony... Chode! 

What is a chode? You can look it up on Urban Dictionary and get the actual street meaning, but to me it's in the same line as douchebag, assh***, and dips***. Simply put, someone who pisses you off.

Everybody has someone in their life like this, and it can even be somebody you love, like your husband or mom, but still acted like a chode. Let's try to stay away from politics though, because honestly no one gives a crap who you voted for or why. Anybody else is cool with me!

For my first Monday Afternoon Chode, I choose you Carmelo Anthony. Why?

Because I know how the majority of the general public feels about the NBA these days, I usually keep my basketball thoughts to myself. I couldn’t help myself today though. As a former season ticket holder for the Nuggets, and a committed follower even before the Carmelo Anthony days, it really pissed me off when Carmelo Anthony left town. Not because I thought we needed him, or he was my favorite player, but because of all the support, time, money, and energy spent cheering him on for almost 8 years. It meant nothing to him.

Anthony was offered more money to stay in Denver, but he still refused to sign the Nuggets generous contract. He wanted to, like many other NBA stars, build an all-star team in New York with his buddy and fellow star, Amar’e Stoudemire. All this whining and complaining came from Carmelo as his long time coach was home battling cancer and the Nuggets were trying to push their way into the playoffs.

Finally late two seasons ago, Carmelo was traded where he begged to go, and in return the Nuggets received Italian player Danilo Gallinari among others. Gallo, as he is sometimes called, is possibly the Nuggets best player without having to shoot the ball 35 times a game like Carmelo did, and doesn't mind letting someone else be the star for the night if it helps the team win.

The Knicks all-star team beat the Nuggets last night, and it just fueled my fire. But Carmelo has yet to return to Denver since the trade, that changes on March 13th. You can bet I will be in the crowd, and probably will be lucky if I don't end up in jail for throwing something at his head.
