There are certain events that remind us how lucky we are to live in Northern Colorado, Kids in the Park is one of them. It's a completely free, family event open encouraging the community to focus on simple outdoor activities.

Kids in the Park will be held at the 54-acre Twin Silo Park on Sunday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The community will enjoy music, giant bubbles, a bike skills course, kite decorating and flying, and food trucks. In my experience bringing bikes is a great way to get around the event, because it's spread out really nicely.

Hosted by the City of Fort Collins Recreation Department the idea is designed to encourage community participation and play in the great outdoors. Get there early because First National Bank is providing free kites for the first 1000 children who attend.

Townsquare Media is very excited to host the event. In years past if the weather is good this event is huge. Luckily there are so many activities event if kites do go up well, it's worth going. Plus, Twin Silo Park is so cool. It makes the playgrounds of my day look like an antique junkyard.

Free parking for Kids in the Park will be available at Fossil Ridge High School.
