WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan announced Monday he is officially retiring.

Bryan, 34, issued a statement saying, "Due to medical reasons, effective immediately, I am announcing my retirement. Tonight on Raw, I'll have a chance to elaborate. #gratitude."

The superstar has talked about his medical issues in the past, once citing a concussion in an interview with "Busted Open."

Bryan praised WWE for protecting him by making him seek treatment and keeping him out of the ring until he was cleared by doctors.
