Citing a string of health concerns, Atreyu vocalist Alex Varkatzas has announced his leave of absence from the band's upcoming European tour, set to begin at the Slam Dunk Festival in England this weekend. However, he promised a return to the group in time for their inclusion in the Rockstar Disrupt tour this summer.

See the video announcement down toward the bottom of this post.

"Wish I was coming to you with good news, I'll try to keep it brief," Varkatzas begins in the clip shared Wednesday (May 22). "I will not be coming with Atreyu on the next European tour. They will be carrying on without me. This is because of health reasons and medical advice I received."

Having "aggravated a damaged disc" in his back prior to the band's "Spring Invasion" tour with Motionless in White, the musician said an added complication of a hernia has amounted to the needed time off. But drummer Brandon Saller—the group's other lead vocalist—and bassist Marc McKnight will step in.

"Catch my brothers kicking ass and taking names all across Europe this summer without me," Varkatzas said. "Go check 'em out. Brandon's gonna be up front, Marc's gonna be doing some screams. It's gonna be rippin'."

A lengthy note from Varkatzas was included with the video post. See it below.
