76 Colorado Schools Receive the 2020 ‘College Success Award’
Each year, GreatSchools.org gives out the 'College Success Award' to high schools that are going above and beyond to prepare their students for their professional and college careers.
This year, 76 high schools in Colorado received the award, including Northern Colorado's Liberty Common Charter School, Frontier Charter Academy, Fossil Ridge High School, Rocky Mountain High School, and more.
"These are the schools that get students not just through high school and into college, but their students have success once they get into post-secondary pathways," said Jon Deane, CEO of GreatSchools.org, in our "Tuned In to NoCo" interview. "If your school's got that award, you can be proud of the work the school is doing to actually help all students succeed — something that we think is really important."
GreatSchools.org is a non-profit dedicated to helping parents and children excel in the educational realm.
Through research and data, which informs the 'College Success Award,' the organization helps parents access the information they need to know in order to choose the best school for their child.
On top of aiding with school choice, GreatSchools.org also helps parents see successful practices in other schools that they could apply to their own communities.
"...have a conversation with others in your community about whether these practices are happening at your school, or whether they're things that you may bring in or adapt," said Deane. "Everyone can be part of helping to make a really strong, successful, college-going community where all kids have an opportunity to thrive. It's a great day to celebrate success in schools."
