Houska Automotive may be known for fixing cars, but the company also actively gives back to the Fort Collins community. For the past 20 years, the business has hosted an annual blood drive to help meet Northern Colorado's ever-increasing need.

"My father was not only into giving blood, but he also gave bone marrow at one time too. That's what really inspired us to even start a blood drive," said LJ Houska, Vice President of Houska Automotive, in our "Tuned In to NoCo" interview. "20 years goes by all of a sudden before you know it...so we're really excited to kind of hit this milestone."

The company's 20th Annual Halloween Blood Drive will take place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 29 at the UCHealth Garth Englund Blood Center in Fort Collins. Masks are required, and attendees are encouraged to sport their best Halloween costumes.

Guests who donate will also receive a Coopersmith's Pub & Brewing gift card and have the chance to win four Goodyear tires.

But the real payoff comes from the blood donation itself — just one donation can save multiple lives.

"The summer is always challenging, but now we're going into the area of the holiday time, which is also challenging," said Bridget Aesoph, Blood Donor Recruiter with the UCHealth Garth Englund Blood Center. "The need is definitely still there and we'd love to see you guys."

Sign up for the Halloween Blood Drive here. Those who can't make the drive can still donate blood by making an appointment with UCHealth here.
