One More Night to Catch the ‘Santa Tour’ Rolling Through the Windsor Area

A very short, though very unique, parade has been making its way through the Windsor and Severance neighborhoods, so that Santa can say "Merry Christmas."

If you've seen Greeley's "Light the Night" parade or the "Catch the Glow" parade in Estes Park, you'll want to put this tiny parade on your list. It's great how Santa has been getting to use a fire engine from Windsor-Severance Fire Rescue.

I saw this parade go by our radio station, at 600 Main Street in Windsor, and it blew me away. I didn't know what was going on, but it looked great. There was no time to rush out to get my own photos or video of Santa and the gang, it was gone that fast.

The Windsor-Severance Fire Rescue (WSFR) team began their "Santa Tour" in 2021. I hope it continues for the 2023 season as well. The 2022 season looks like it's been a ton of fun.

The tour includes a few of WSFR's vehicles, including one of their big heavy duty rescue engines to be Santa's illuminated "sleigh." The parade also includes a couple of other illuminated vehicles, a small van and VW Beetle. The tour is very cute.

The tour is four nights in Windsor and/or Severance, traveling over 125 total miles across the four nights. Having started the tour on December 19, they found very nice weather for the first two nights, with the final two being 'naughty."

The final night (Thursday night, December 22,) will even have Santa having to stay within the cab of the "sleigh" because of the cold. The other nights he was able to wave and say, "Ho, Ho, Ho," through a hatch in the heavy duty vehicle. He was "reprimanded" by the Fire Chief:

Thursday's night tour will take him through the Highland Meadows area, via County Road 13 along the way; the parade will run from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., starting at County Road 13 and River's Edge Road.

All are asked to stay on the sidewalks and to keep safety in mind when it comes to being outside on another deep-freeze of a night.
