The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. There is just something about summertime... The food, the parades, picnics, fun events, and of course the fireworks! The City of Fort Collins has always known how to do the 4th of July right, and this year is no different. Here is a schedule of the events planned around the city.

FireKracker 5K: 8:00 AM

At 8:00 AM the 12th annual running of the Ft. Collins Running Club's FireKracker 5K, features a flat fast 5K course that runs through City Park and onto City streets before finishing at Sheldon Lake in City Park. A kid's fun run will be run immediately after the 5K. $23 Pre-registration, $18 Pre-registered Fort Collins Running Club Member & ages 17 and under. Race day entries for all categories are $30.

Golf Tournament: 8:00 AM

At 8:00 AM a shotgun start, two-person better ball tournament will begin at City Park Nine. Call 970.221.6650 for details.

30th Annual Old Timer's Game: 9:30 AM

City Park North Ball field beginning at 9:30 AM. Enjoy a blast from the past watching these men relive their great memories enjoying the sport they love.

City Park 100: July 4th Parade: 100 Years of Transportation: 9:30 AM

Join us for this special parade beginning at 9:30 AM at the Avery House. The parade, in honor of the 100th anniversary of City Park, will feature 100 Years of Transportation. Enjoy the period costumes, the trolley, cars and bikes from all eras and have some fun on the 4th of July. Visit fcgov.com/july4th for details for the entire day.

Old-fashioned Fourth of July at the Avery House: 10 AM-4:00 PM

Celebrate the 4th at the Avery House, 328 West Mountain Ave. Live music, games, food and fun, free admission.  For more information: 970.221.0533 or www.poudrelandmarks.org.

Fort Collins Foxes vs. Loveland Blue Jays: 1:00 PM

1:00 PM on City Park South Ball field. Cheer on the Fort Collins Foxes of the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League. $6/adult; $4/Children (7-14); $4/Seniors (over 65); Children under 6 and active military with ID are admitted for free.

City Park 100: Live Music & Food Vendors: beginning at 1:00 PM until the fireworks display

Live music and fun will be in City Park on the south side of the hill and at the corner of Sheldon and Mulberry from 1:00 PM through the fireworks display. See www.fcgov.com/july4th for details on the live music.

Fireworks at City Park: Dusk (Estimated time 9:35 PM)

Fireworks begin at dusk (estimated time 9:35 PM) and are shot over Sheldon Lake. Free admission and open to the public. Free Transfort shuttle service will be available to and from the fireworks display from the Downtown Transit Center and CSU Towers Parking Lot to City Park. Shuttle rides begin at 5:30 PM and end at 10:30 PM.

Transfort will be providing free shuttle service on the Fourth of July to City Park. Shuttle service will begin from the Downtown Transit Center at 1:00 PM and from Colorado State University's Towers Parking Lot at 5:30 PM. Shuttles will return to Colorado State University's Towers Parking Lot & Downtown Transit Center at the conclusion of the fireworks display. Alcohol and pets are not permitted on the shuttles or in City Park on the 4th of July. Parking will not be permitted at City Park Pool or City Park Nine Golf Course. Parking around City Park's perimeter will be limited.
