After being in action since 2003, when their home arena the Budweiser Events Center opened, the Colorado Eagles took it all the way last night!!

Their Kelly Cup Championship is the result of winning all four playoff games.

The 2016/17 playoffs were the first time the Eagles advanced out of the first round since 2011/12.  They did that by defeating the Idaho Steelheads.

This is Colorado's first "major league" championship, but they won two championships in 2005 and 2007 as part of the Canadian Hockey League.

Hockey is a fast moving game, therefore I have all the respect in the world for hockey announcers.  If you've ever been in a press box during a hockey game, you have probably seen a guy leaning halfway out the window, talking very quickly, and his head going back and forth so fast it has to hurt.

This game was pretty slow, but the suspense kept real fans hanging on until the end, with the final score 2-1. Unlike with six previous playoff games, this win wasn't in overtime, however.  Luke Salazar took care of the winning goal early in the second period.
