Sure, the weather's getting warmer - but ski season hasn't completely come to an end.

Yes, Copper Mountain and Snowmass might have both shut down their ski areas for the season, but four Colorado ski areas still remain open.

From now until Sunday, May 9, both Winter Park and Loveland ski areas will be open.

According to the Winter Park Resort website, the Winter Park side of the resort was closed on April 25, but the Mary Jane side remains open until May 9; the Super Gauge, Galloping Goose, Sunnyside and Panoramic Express ski lifts will continue to operate until closing day.

As for the Loveland Ski Area, Loveland Valley is closed for the season but Loveland Basin will also remain open until May 9. Private lessons will also be available at Loveland Basin until the season's end.

After May 9, Breckenridge and Arapahoe Basin will be the only ski areas still open for the 2020-2021 season.

As per the Denver Post, Breckenridge plans to remain open through Memorial Day. Arapahoe Basin still hasn’t set a date, but chief operating officer Alan Henceroth says he believes the area will be able to stay open into June as usual.

“Often people follow that up with the Fourth of July question,” Henceroth said. “Really low confidence for the Fourth of July, but I have high confidence we’ll make it to June.”

A-Basin has made it into June in 38 of the past 40 seasons, said Henceroth. The other two years it closed in May.

“I think there’s six or seven years we’ve made it to July,” Henrecroth said. “It’s almost about average, if we get into early June.”

An exact closing date for the season is weather-dependent. However, the Climate Prediction Center of the National Weather Service expects Colorado to have below-normal precipitation and above-normal temperatures during the month of May.
