I'm SO excited to dig out the kayak and check out this new spot on the Cache La Poudre in Windsor. Weld County residents (and really ANYONE who want to enjoy this sweet new area) will be able to enjoy a new river experience.

According to the Greeley Tribune, the town of Windsor is scheduled to introduce its newest attraction, the Eastman Park River Experience, to the public at 4 p.m. this Friday, May 14. The river walk is located at Eastman Park Drive and 7th Street, adjacent to the Eastman Park playground, soccer fields, skate park and Poudre River Trail.

The river walk will feature a space devoted to gathering and watching people kayaking, canoeing and tubing and of course,  a river-mile dedicated to local water sports enthusiasts to enjoy the river.

Some of the features of the new river walk include a dedicated float launch and take out area, a scenic river plaza that provides river access for general water enjoyment and endless scenic views of the Cache la Poudre River. The area also offers 160 parking spaces.

This is actually only phase one of a three phase project. Some of the upcoming projects include adding trails, outdoor space for classes, a nature playground and MY personal favorite, a possible zip line. Plans include adding more river access on the south bank and wetlands preservation. Additions are also planned for the community’s Treasure Island Demonstration Garden.

A spot like this is WAY overdue in Weld County and I can't wait to spend lots of hot summer days out there with my family.

Bring on summer.
