Weld County Sheriff’s Office Needs Your Help Searching for Suspect in Dog’s Suspicious Death

The Weld County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) is asking for the public's help with their investigation of a local dog's suspicious death.

According to a press release from Weld County Sheriff Steve Reams, officers responded to a vandalism call around 1 p.m. on Monday (June 15) in the 1800 block of Dilmont Avenue in unincorporated Weld County.

The caller told police that someone had set their trashcan on fire and damaged a nearby car.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the caller's dead dog inside of the vehicle.

The dog, named Jade, had originally gone missing on Sunday (June 14) while her owner was away at the store, according to a post on the Lost and Found Pets of Northern Colorado Wellington and Fort Collins Facebook page.

The post insinuated that someone had taken the dog. It was later updated to inform the group that Jade was found "beat and bloody" in the owner's car.

Despite interviewing Jade's owner, a family member, and neighbors about the incident, WCSO currently does not have any leads or suspects in the case.
