Sean Conway will no longer be the Weld County commissioner, as of January 31.

Conway announced his resignation in a letter to the Weld County Council on Monday (January 6), stating that he needed to help his wife, Rebecca, with her health challenges.

According to The Greeley Tribune, Conway was currently serving in his third term as the commissioner. He called his time in the position "a tremendous honor."

Other council members revealed that they have received Conway's letter, but have not yet spoken to him.

Commission chairman Mike Freeman said they got little notice of his resignation, with no idea of what his future plans would be.

The Conways, however, seem to have a good idea of what the future holds for them.

Mrs. Conway excitedly announced her husband's retirement on Facebook over the weekend, stating that the couple will be celebrating with a cruise vacation.

Colorado's U.S. Congressman Ken Buck stated that he appreciated Conway's "long service to his country and his community," noting that "he's protected the taxpayer and done a great job."
