Watch Chris Cornell + Mike McCready Play Temple of the Dog, Mad Season Songs in Seattle

Chris Cornell is currently on tour behind his latest solo album, Higher Truth, and Tuesday night (Sept. 29), he returned to his stomping grounds in Seattle. The Soundgarden frontman planned something special for the birthplace of grunge, bringing out Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready for a mini-reunion.

Cornell and McCready teamed up on their sometime supergroup Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike,” which can be seen in the fan-shot video above. They also played Mad Season’s “River of Deceit,” another familiar collaboration for the pair following the band’s “Sonic Evolution” concert in Seattle earlier this year, where Cornell filled in on vocals for the late Layne Staley. Cornell played a set list spanning his catalog, including Soundgarden, Audioslave and solo cuts. He also treated concertgoers to a couple of Dylan covers and his take on Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which he recently performed for a SiriusXM session (see below). Cornell returned with Higher Truth last month, a follow-up to his 2009 solo effort, Scream, and Soundgarden’s 2012 comeback album, King Animal.
