Two Extreme Rides That Are a Must for Colorado Thrill Seekers
If you're a major thrill seeker but the roller coasters at Elitch's just aren't enough, there's another place in Colorado with two rides that are sure to get your heart pounding. Both located at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park in Manitou Springs, the Terror-dactyl and the Bat-a-Pult are two extreme attractions definitely made for the adventurous and brave of heart.
Launching people off of a 200-foot cliff directly over Williams Canyon, the Terror-dactyl is unlike any other ride out there. Prepare to strap in and hold on, as you free fall at speeds of almost 100 miles per hour, then swing back and forth above the canyon floor while taking in all the views. Riders must be at least 12-years-old, 48 inches tall, and between 100 – 250 pounds. It is $50 to take a ride on the Terror-dactyl.
The Bat-a-Pult sends riders soaring at nearly 40 miles per hour, on a 1200-foot round-trip flight high above the canyon. As the adrenaline flows from your seat, you'll get aerial views of the entire park and its scenic surroundings. For $20, guests can ride the Bat-a-Pult as many times as they'd like.
Weather permitting, these rides are accessible March through October. According to an inside source, Cave of the Winds is expected to get several new rides in May, which could potentially change the pricing structure a bit for the attractions listed above.
