Too Damned Dangerous: Larimer Sheriff Shuts Down Poudre For All Use
In response to disaster relief and debris removal, Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith has ordered the closure of the Poudre River until further notice.
As the Larimer County Sheriff's Office continues to search for two missing people and retrieve one dead body from the Poudre, all watercraft are banned from the river starting at the Fish Hatchery to the mouth of the Poudre Canyon.
With the flash flooding and mudslides of July 20, 2021, crews will be assessing the structural integrity of bridges that lie below the slide area. Much debris, (mud, rock, trees, structures) has been washed into the river and authorities just don't know what hazards exist.
These restrictions are for the safety of the public as well as the safety of responders in the area and will remain in place through the weekend, most likely. More rain and storms are forecasted for that area.

Violators of the order will face a Class 2 Petty Offense citation. For the sake of yourself and others (including rescue personnel,) please just stay off the river.
