It's hard to say when student-athletes in the Thompson School District will be using the field again, but when they do return, they'll have a great field.

Growing up in Loveland, I visited Ray Patterson Field a lot. Nowadays, it's called Ray Patterson Stadium, but the feel of home-town sports is still the same.

The field at the stadium recently got replaced with synthetic turf. The Reporter-Herald reported on how it's the first of its kind in the Thompson School District, and the $900,000 for the upgrade, including new goalposts and a fence, came from bond sales.

The field will be used not only for football games, but as the home field for local soccer and lacrosse games as well.
