Saturday afternoon as I finally made my way to the front of a line I stood in for a half hour at the post office to get stamps I figured I better buy a bunch so I don't have to waste another day doing this. I wasn't sure how many stamps came in a roll, so I just blurted out that I wanted a roll. Come to find out, that is 100 stamps, and at 44 cents a piece, that's 44 bucks! That is quite an investment! If only it was still the 50's, actually on this day in 1958 the cost for first class postage was raised for the first time in 26 years, from 3 cents to 4 cents. 4 dollars sounds a little better than 44 to me! Then I looked at the stamps and I didn't even get a cool picture for 44 bucks! I was hoping to find a cool picture of the Beatles or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but instead it was just the same picture of the Statue of Liberty I've seen thousands of times. This got me thinking about stamps that have had cool pictures on them, and I was going to list my favorites, but who cares what my favorites are! So here is the unanimous favorites as proven by the number of people who collect each stamp.
